Moving Beyond Perfection

Don’t let your gaurd down?

Posted in Uncategorized by Kathy on July 9, 2009

My senior mentor at work told me that one of the biggest mistakes he’s seen guys make at work is that they let their gaurds down. They become buddies with their associates and forget that those associates are in the end going to be the same ones evaluating them. When you let your guard down, you become more vulnerable, and it also becomes easier to judge you.

I think this makes a lot of sense at work, but I sometimes wonder, do I let my gaurd down too easily? I really would like to think the best of people, but I may trust people too easily … and then in the end, it’s me who gets hurt. I’d like to believe that people can always change for the better, but after one too many dissapointments, maybe it’s just time to let them go.
